They're not too gear dependent and you can get away with terrible resists at endgame. I've cleared legendary with a pure pet soothsayer (pets for basically all real damage). Is it possible to make a viable "pet" build? You can keep farming for as long as you want after beating the 'final' boss. Story is straightforward like all ARPGs and linear. Is there any replay ability apart from creating a different type of character? Otherwise it is similar to other ARPGs where you farm bosses over and over and hope you get lucky. When you start a new game (from desktop) a loot seed is generated which determines what type of things you'll see. Certain bosses have much better drop % than others. Certain mobs have a chance to drop 'monster infrequents' which are basically uncommons that only they can drop (some are really good)īoss chests have loot tables. Originally posted by cleveremailaddr: Is loot from mobs and bosses random?Ĭharms are items that can be used to buff green and lesser items and each charm shard type only drops from specific enemies. Loot drops are very random as well, and yes, tons of replayability especially with the new most recent expansion. Also you get a 150% increase in hp regen from nightmare along with a direct hp regen from a dream aura.so your pets don't die as easy (Especially in normal). The nightmare buffs all the other pets, and the wolves buff everything as well (and you can get 3 of them). One of the more favorite pet builds though is a Dream (nightmare) and Nature (wolves and sylph) combo. Runesmith has stones that are similar etc. They still count as pets but last only so long. Some pets buff all pets and you as well, so that can also add alot to table.Įven masteries is mostly poison and bleeding damage and high attack damage etc, have "pets" that are a bit aps. You can combine 2 masteries which opens up quite a selection of pet builds. Each mastery has different pets, and most of them have at least one. What you should do is use Ice Shards as long as it's damage is still good, and then drop the skill and switch to ternion attacking with a staff after it starts sucking major. There are a bunch of pet build combinations. It'll slow down and debuff anything that gets near you, which could make it easier to kite stuff. You got dark covenant which is a mana regen + damage buff, at the cost of HP, but if you get a staff with leech on it, you can counteract dark covenant. Spirit still has some OKish stuff for a mage, even if you don't grab the lich pet. You could put 1 point in Wisp, and max out 'eye of the storm' just for the buff. It's not like the wisp is going to be doing all that much damage, and you're hiding behind pets, etc. Oracle might be what you want, but there is no reason why you shouldn't at least use wisp for the 'eye of the storm' buff which increases your elemental damage. Ternion attack uses your staff's damage, and staff damage keeps going up with higher level drops. Spells like Ice shards can do good damage in normal, and maybe 1/2 way through epic, but at some point you're going to cap out the skill, and it's damage isn't going to increase much beyond that. That's something you need to consider if you want something that's going to be consistently decent. You want something with spirit mastery in it, because in Legendary difficulty, most of the mage spells (outside of CCs) don't scale up enough in damage to be worth using anymore, and Ternion attack with your staff turns into your best damage source.
